Anyone having trouble? There is no gas at the 7 stations within 2 miles of my house.

Atlanta is apparently having the same problem in some parts of the city. The news said last night that part of the problem is that the gas pipeline that works with the east coast is sourced by Houston and Baton Rouge (I think.) Because of Gustav and Ike, the production slowed way down, but they are expected to be back up in 5-10 days, so "sit tight".

I was honestly shocked when I saw that gas here was 4.24 and up, when I just paid 3.57 back home. I talked to one of my clients in SC last week, and she said that it jumped to 5.25 in the days before Ike.

A couple of stations in Raleigh were charging $5.50 per gallon the day after Ike. The owners were arrested for "gouging."

We've got plenty of fuel here in Wilmington for ~$3.90.

$4.39 was as high as it got here, now the signs are blank. I can't wait 10 days. Guess I'll ride into Columbia today and find some.

I have seen a few stations with bags on the pumps here in Dallas. I guess they were out. Last Thursday I went to 4 stations before I found one with regular unleaded. The price difference was .30, so it was worth it with my Tahoe.

The price is stable, but some areas had runs on gas for a few days. I think it has leveled out now.

Donnie, the basic problem is that South Carolina does not have enough Mexican restaurants. Build more of those and gas will be no problem.

Just got back from an extended vacation after the UConn game. Was shocked to find gas prices in New England lower than in Texas. Most places (VT, NH, MA) were $3.57-3.61. Highest I saw was on the Maine coast, and that was only $3.69.

Chip speaks the truth. I am who I say I am.

And to answer atx's question, NE was fantastic (except for the last 6-7 minutes of the game and the elevated blood-alcohol level of 95% of the UConn fans). I highly recommend the southern Maine coast, White Mountains of NH and Manchester valley of Vermont.

I asked the woman who checked the car in if it was happening to everyone returning the cars. She said it was.
