How do you let a receiver of the quality of Santana Moss be all by himself all day. Already, in the first half, Moss has 125 yards on 6 catches.
Washington has almost 200 yards in the 2nd qtr to Dallas' 10.

The Cowboys can't even get anything done on special teams. They have yet to get back to the 20 yard line.

Down 15-0 to Oakland at the half. Scoring is: FG, Safety, TD, XP, FG. One of everything.

Because the Cowboys look absolutely horrible. And, now that we punted again, the Redskins can now score for the fifth consecutive possession and we've shown that we can't merely match scores and expect to win.

Having lived in D.C. and in Dallas, I can remember the intensity of years past. My brother still lives in D.C. The Redskins still have that intensity.
The joke in Washington, for many years, was that a 2-14 record was okay as long as the two wins were against the Cowboys.
All week long this week in Washington, all the talk (not on politics) have been on this game. Not so much in Dallas. And you can see I'm right by the intensity and emotion on the field.

so you're talking about the hype of the game by the fans and the local media?
The emotion on the field currently doesn't have much to do with their mindset coming into the game. I'm pretty sure they're aware of the importance of a divisional game in what is pretty much the best division in football.

Knowing the importance of the game in relation to standings is not the same as the emotion involved with rivalries.

The Cowboys were flat today. They got beat by a team that was simply better than they were today. The Redskins played better on defense, offense and special teams. You usually win when you play like that.
The Cowboys have all the talent in the world, but they need to get their heads out of their butts. The NFC East is tough. The Cowboys are going to have to do more than simply "show up" if they want to win it.

Cowboys still have numerous problems; the defense is not good, Romo has to improve his decision making (especially when to throw it away and when to take a sack and they have a tougher schedule. They are a playoff team but without fixing the D they arent going to win the division or go to the SB.

some of you make my head hurt. they had a bad game, did you really expect to go undefeated? Of course this team has it's problems, but don't let the wheels fall off just cause we lose one game. Tap the brakes, get ready to bounce back against Cincy.
We played an AWFUL game and lost by 2, and if not for Sam Hurd letting the ball slip through his fingers, I have a feeling we'd be sittin on a W right now. You all went to Baylor, you know what a moral victory is. If this team plays the next couple of weeks the way it did today, then ok, time to be concerned. But honestly, look around the league... who are you afraid of? Every team has it's problems. Hell, look at Philly tonight.

it's a losers mentality if they only want to beat the Cowboys and not care about any other game. I would lose to the Redskins everytime as long as we were winning Super Bowls. How much do Dallas fans laugh at Houston when they treat the game as if it were the Super Bowl.

Biggy, perhaps you're just too young to understand this rivalry. I get it. You don't understand and that's okay. But don't say there isn't one because no lifelong Cowboy fan or Redskin fan will agree with you.
I remeber watching the Cowboy/Redskin game in Korea (tape delayed) with my boss. We had a ton of money on the game. The Redskins jumped into a 34-0 lead and Dallas came back to win 35-34. I wasn't worried about him retaliating with crap assignments (I was already getting those). I wasn't worried that he wouldn't pay (he had a reputation to maintain). You're speaking from a place that is generated from a position in your head. Fans and their rivalries are feeling their emotions from a place that is generated from the heart. We all know logic is a matter of the head where feelings are a matter of the heart. You're trying to use the reason from you head to tell people they don't have those feelings in their hearts and they'll tell you you're wrong every time. Wasn't it Aikman's rookie year that the Cowboys had one win? That one win was against the Redskins who went on to win the Superbowl. The fans were happy because that is who they beat. The rivalry is important to the fans on both sides.

Wow...nice leap waaaaaay out left to kneejerkville. Rivalry games do not inspire loser mentalies. That is absurd. I absolutely HATE aggy. If my team stinks and win that game it makes me happy. That does not mean I accept losing the rest of the games. Your example of Dallas-Houston is invalid. To be a rivalry both sides fans and teams make it so. That is nowhere near the rivalry game that Dallas/Washington is. I watched the game that TG is referring to with my dad. he was ticked and then ecstatic when the Cowboys came back to win. I was as well. Dallas/Philly is close but not on the level of the Redskins rivalry.
Seriously...you want to talk Bowl smack with me? Should I respond with "How many bowl games have you played in" smack? I am 100% certain I win that one. ;) I am pretty sure I understand season goals over game goals very intimately.
Noone said the Cowboys were going to run the schedule but they are not beyond criticism when they play like crap. They played like crap and lost a game they should have dominated. The Cowboys current squad does not know how to finish off games for whatever reason and that is frustrating because I want them to run a perfect season. Don't come back with an argument here because they have no playoff wins. They need to learn how to kick the crap out of inferior teams and take it to the house and also win tough games at the end. They are close. They have that kind of talent on their squad but the mental part isn't there yet. They will be fine. I think you tend to defend the Cowboys too fast whenever someone critiques them. We are all (I think) Cowboys fans, but its ok to complain when they do not perform.
Wasn't it Aikman's rookie year that the Cowboys had one win? That one win was against the Redskins who went on to win the Superbowl. The fans were happy because that is who they beat. The rivalry is important to the fans on both sides.
TG, you know any Philly fans? They hate us even more, but it is more like the UT/ATM rivalry where it is more one sided.
Yes. That was a glorious victory and it deflated those pompous DC thugs that year. It was wonderful.
I agree about Philly. They hate Dallas but the true rivalry game is Washington.

I spent many years in Philly and have been to many Eagle and Phillie games. The folks in Philly do hate the Cowboys but it's more about the feeling of getting no respect. When I was living there, their main rivalry was with the NY Giants.

Last year Randy White told the story of Harvey Martin placing a funeral wreath in the middle of the Redskins locker room, while they were in there. Those guys really hated each other.
Of course that was the day when players spent their entire careers with one team. I think the hatred has been mitigated by that. Now, you see guys on the Redskins that used to be Cowboys (Demetric Evans for one) and vice versa. These guys are all over the league for the most part, and you can tell it by the grab-*****ing that goes on after the games. It like a big party on the field after the game.
For those of us old enough to remember some of the hatred, its still a fun rivalry.

Oh thank you for posting Harvey Martin's name. He had some of his best games against the skins. Man that guy could get blood in his eyes. He was awesome and terrifying.

And he was likely the only guy who could get by with walking into an opposing team's lockerroom and putting a wreath in there. Everyone was scared of the guy.
