View Full Version : Redemption! Palin shows herself to be EXTREMELY competent.

For real. I was her biggest critic after her screwups on the Couric interviews, but her performance tonight was downright stellar.

I personally call the debates a draw thus far, but regardless, she has shown herself to be totally competent and she definitely held her own against Biden.

I truly feel much, much better about the prospect of Palin as VP. She didn't embarrass herself or the party, she made many great points against Biden (although Biden did the same to her), and it was downright enjoyable to watch.

I was wrong about Palin the first time around, and I happily admit that. Thank goodness she did not embarrass herself like she did before.

IMO Biden won the debate. He has a mastery of factoids about congressional votes that only 25+ years in Washington can bring you. In fairness McCain probably has the mastery of factoids about votes.

With Palin you get a fresh face. In a nutshell she doesn't look, talk or act like a politician. I like that. Others won't.

IMO we need some fresh air in Washington.

Kudos to you Giga. Seriously.

I use to judge debates when I was at BU (Lincoln/Douglas, etc.) and have to say that Biden (or O'Biden as Palin said at one point) won the debate from an objective standpoint.

That being said, Palin scored WAY more points with the American public. Both Fox AND CNN showed the same point when Palin mentioned PERSONAL responsibility and Democrats' and Republicans' opinions virtually went off the scale. She nailed it!

Overall, she did much better than I expected her to do. Biden did much better as well. There were a few times where I thought he was flirting with her! Overall, that "electricity" helped him.

I liked both of them better than either candidate last Friday.

I think Palin was able to avoid saying anything that would really get her in trouble, though I do think that she struggled responding to some issues, instead going back to her main talking points.

Biden was solid. He avoided coming off as a complete ******, which I think was important for him.

After watching the end, rewinding a few times, and checking things over a bit more, I agree that Biden won the debate. HOWEVER, I was of the mind that Palin was bound to embarrass both herself and the party in the debates, and she definitely didn't do that.

She held her own, and while he won, he was supposed to win. Palin definitely endeared herself to many tonight, but I fear that those she endeared herself to were those like me---ones voting for McCain anyways.

Yep, I think she certainly helped to bolster the republican base. Hopefully she reached out to a few of those undecideds and independents as well.

Biden knows lots of s***. Of course some of the s*** he knows is complete bull s***.

If I had taken a shot for everytime she winked at the camera or said "you betcha" I would have been completey s***faced...and if I drank for everytime Biden referred to himself in the third person, I would have blacked out.

Or everytime Biden gave her "the look", I would have passed out.

Anyone else catch it when she called him "OBiden?" Funny and I don't think she caught it, but he did.

I thought her delivery was great, but was very disappointed in her content. Biden won in my mind.

I was expecting her delivery to be that of Ned Flanders and her content to be that of Peter Griffin.

I'll take 1/2.

She spoke in complete sentences for most of the debate so she exceeded most expectations.

I can just picture Palin saying something along the lines of

"Well golly gee willikers folks, ain't that just the darndest thang?"

My gut is that she did better for Palin 2012 then for McCain Palin 2008.
