Not a big deal, but I certainly had no idea that Obama was a smoker. Doesn't seem to fit his persona.

It's his personal choice and since it's pretty unlikely that I'll sit next to him at a restaurant or ride in a limo with him I really don't care one way or the other. It's just interesting that it has remained under the radar.

It just underscores how little we really know about any of these folks. Being a smoker is a mainstream part of one's persona. Kind of like being a golfer, a jogger or a tennis player. It's part of the person.
