Maybe GM can make them put out quality products again.

Would be interesting, GM could up the Chrysler quality and Chrysler could teach GM how to build a car people actually want to buy...

I heard on the news yesterday that the talks fell through and the merger, for the time being, is off.

The issue is cash and the current economy, it is officially off but unofficially the talks continue. That news from someone who deals with both upper management groups fairly regularly.

Ford wants to divest itself of Mazda. Dumb, but they need the cash. Ford ought to make the buyer of Mazda take Mercury off their hands as part of the deal. Mercury? Can you imagine being a Mercury dealer?

I stand corrected. There is one cool Mercury - or at least there used to be one cool Mercury.

I owned 2 Mercury Capris back in the early 70s. Bought the first one in Europe. It was set up to German specs, except that it had safety glass, which was not required there at the time. They both would go 130 mph easily.

That's what everyone hoped for when Daimler bought them...

...only 1 of the four windows on my wife's Chrysler roll down. Yes, they've been "fixed" several times.

Daimler learned a valuable lesson about unions and building in the US.

Why?? Why would GM want to buy a crappy brand of cars? I don't think I've ever seen a Chrysler anything that appealled to me. Including the cop car look alike Marauder

The Maurader is a Ford product.
Newer Chyrsler products are far more innovative than GM products, just without the build quality.
As to none you would buy or appeal to you, I urge you to go drive a Viper, you cant get out of it and think you dont want one.

Indeed. Chrysler is the umbrella for: Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Mopar, Chrysler Financial.
They are 80% owned by Cerberus Management Group and 20% owned by Daimler AG. Well, just over 80 and under 20 but you get the picture.

Put the hammer down on a fully loaded Charger or, better yet, Challenger and tell me you don't like it. I doubt you'd be able to. I'm not a Dodge/Chrysler "fan" but some of their vehicles are definitely appealling.

I would be all about a Challenger BUT all automatics and no SRT8 version. When they load one up with the Viper V10 and a 6 speed sign me the heck up.

I know that but I guess what I was confused on is I thought the deal was only for Chrysler and not all the other sub groups. Now there are some dodge and Jeep models out there I like. I guess I should have just figured it would be for all and not just Chrysler, that wouldn't make much sense.
