AUSTIN — The Texas elections Web site is one of the best in the country for voters who go online to find out what to do on Election Day or how and where to vote early, a study shows.

The Lone Star State ranks second only to Iowa as having one of the best state-run elections Web sites in the country, run by the Texas secretary of state’s office, according to the Pew Center on the States, which is researching voter issues for the election.
Texas’ Web site scored 75 out of 100, gaining points for being easy to find through a simple Google search, and easy to navigate once you get there.
It lost points because certain parts of the Web site direct voters to check with their local registrars or county sites, researchers said.
“It is very clear we can avoid confusion and long lines, and protect the right to vote, with information,” said Michael Caudell-Feagan, director of the Make Voting Work project for the Pew Center on the States.
Mississippi and New Hampshire landed at the bottom. Researchers said they found no geographic, size, political or budgetary pattern among the states that had the best or worst sites.
