We're planning on making the UCONN game. Baylor football, one of the final games at Yankee stadium, and NYC. Tough to pass on that one.
Will be staying in NYC before and after the BU game, but plan to stay in Hartford the night of the game.
Here's the question: train or rental car to Hartford. Bear in mind we will check out of the NYC hotel to go to Hartford, and then will return back to NYC.
I've never driven in NYC, and am a bit ****htened of the prospect. On the other hand, it would be much easier with transfers/luggage.
Any insights would be appreciated.

I realize I already have one strike against me typing the name of a certain stuffed animal last night, and have been warned of such, but really, I didn't cuss above.
The word automatically deleted above is supposed to read f-r-i-g-h-t-e-n-e-d. To my knowledge, that isn't a curse word, so I'm not sure why it was edited.
I know you're trying to project a certain image on this site, and perhaps the other word for f-e-a-r isn't acceptable. Please forgive me. I didn't mean to use another n-a-u-g-h-t-y word, nor did I intend to suggest that Baylor had t-r-e-p-i-d-a-t-i-o-n in any manner.
So please, don't ban me. I already have one strike for that stuffed animal name last night, and I know from your message last night that 2 strikes is all it takes around here.

It's the auto correct thingy. Don't worry about it Cuda. You are fine.

We are taking the train. Don't drive in NY if you don't have to.

I would never drive it. To get out of the City will take you a LOT longer than taking the train. It is possible that getting out of the city would double or more your drive time. There is simply no reason to drive it. If you are staying in the same hotel in NYC they might even store your bags for you for one night if you explain your situation.
Either way it should be a great time.
When you go to Yankee stadium be prepared for the train to be PACKED (I mean PACKED) and be prepared to be let down by just how horrible the old stadium is. They really did need a new one.

I am planning to drive up from Philly with the BF, probably stay the night in Hartford, and then drive back. We'll totally avoid NYC- Cross Bronx is a MESS to drive in.

BTW... Boston is closer to Hartford than NYC by about 45 minutes if you are trying to decide between Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium. :)

We considered BOS, but we've been there and done that too many times. On the other hand, I've never been to NYC so...

Everyone should go to NYC at least once... then realize how good you have it living in any other state.

I'll be in NYC working and seeing a few friends next week.
Sadly, it looks like I won't make the BU/UConn game. Unless something major happens. :(

Due to dual teaching schedules we are going to have to miss BU/UCONN after originally planning to be there.

If you need me to make sure your ticket is used, I can handle that.

I was going to join the Simpson travel group again. Top notch fun last year at Buffalo/Niagra Falls. Just can't make it this time. :(

I wish they had a slightly lower end offering... Gary is proud of his prices.

It was the same thing last year, but there was value to me for not having to worry about anything. I had a blast with them.

With XTO stock dropping to the mid-40s, alternative revenues must be sought.

Which is a very polite way to say his trip was MASSIVELY overpriced. That said, it is the easiest way to do it because they make it simple (or appeared to when we met up with Limnos and his SO).
I will say this much, we found a bar in Buffalo that served us plenty and then charged me next to nothing, it was total greatness :D

It may be easier to take the train to New Haven and then car to Hartford.

If you do go to NYC, and are a woman (or bringing a woman with you), you HAVE to go here: http://www.maxbrenner.com/
no excuses. I went tonight, and the dessert there is WONDERFUL. :)

I think Max is only in NY for the US... shame. I'm sure he could even make a killing in Hershey. :)
