‘As simple as it sounds, we all must try to be the best person we can: by making the best choices, by making the most of the talents we've been given.’” A quote by Mary Lou Retton is what Megan Conner lives her life by. Born in North Carolina but raised in Texas - is what gave Megan her country roots. “I remember in middle school - I became obsessed with riding horses. I did the whole - boots, big belt buckle, spurs and country music thing. During this time I really began to appreciate country music for what it truly is. Instead of choosing to pursue pop or rock - to me, country music rings with honesty and real life.” “My parents divorced when I was 3, so I grew up very fast. By the age of 7 I knew what I believed in and what I wanted in my life. I knew that I wanted to affect people’s lives in a positive way.” And that is exactly what Megan has been doing. After graduating from Baylor University with a degree in Theater performance, Megan moved to New York City to pursue her dreams. After quickly realizing what a demanding city New York was, she found much happiness in the fitness industry. Megan began training and teaching all over the city, eventually managed a gym in midtown and created a triathlon club. She is a nationally recognized instructor that has been featured in Elle magazine, Alloy.com and Private Clubs magazine. “Fitness is an industry that is completely positive - it’s all about bettering yourself.” This is what attracted Megan to fitness, and where she found her home in New York City. She had no idea that teaching classes would eventually help her music career... “I never dreamed I would move to New York City to sing country music.” After only a few months in the city, Megan was discovered by songwriter and producer Paul Vance. Vance is noted for writing “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and “Catch a Falling Star.” She was recorded and produced by Vance in the city as a country artist. This is when Megan rediscovered her love for country music. After sharing her music in her fitness classes, creating a special style of teaching, and building a strong fan base...the next natural step was to move to Nashville. A fresh face in the Nashville scene, Megan is now working with prominent singer/songwriters and producers to craft her career. Some of the people she currently collaborates with are: Don Goodman, TJ Seals, Rich Alves, Jon E. Conley, among many others that she is so very blessed with. Her personal philosophy remains unchanged. Embedded from the roots of country’s soul - it continues to grow and blossom touching the lives of others through her positive spirit and her music. This spirit is reflected in her belief that, “No matter if there are 5,000 people or 5 people in the room that I’m performing in - if I connect or touch just 1 person then I consider myself a success.”

Tonight is the BIG FINALE! You can only vote until 11am! Here is the latest message I got from Megan:

Good morning everyone! Well, today is the day! I can't believe it's here. I woke up today with nervous excitement! You only have until noon Eastern time today to vote - so please grab one last vote while you can!!!

http://www.gactv.com/star

And here's how it's going to work... Tonight the live finale is at 8pm CENTRAL time. The show runs for an hour and a half. They will boot 2 people off at the beginning, so I may not be able to perform. (If in fact I don't make the final 4 - JC Andersen or Lane Turner would be fabulous picks!!) The final 4 will perform, and they will open voting for 30 MINUTES - THIS IS A CRUCIAL TIME! Those 30 minutes decide who wins the entire thing!! You will be able to vote online, by text and an 800 number. IF YOU ARE WITHOUT GAC, ALL OF THE INFORMATION WILL BE ONLINE AT http://www.gactv.com/star. They will probably open voting between 8:45 and 9pm CENTRAL time, so get online then and get ready to vote!! The winner will be announced at the end of the 30 minute period.

Regardless of what happens tonight - even if I don't get to perform - I have been so amazingly overwhelmed at the response that YOU have given me. The support and encouragement that I've received has made me realize that I am right where I need to be. I will continue to write, sing, and perform whatever the outcome is of this competition. It is because of YOUR support - that I am able to keep going. So, from the bottom of my heart - thank you for all that you do!

Much Love,

Megan

That's just a bad song. I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift anyway. When she did it at Tootsies last week, it was just yucky.

Hope her next one is better.

Yeah, that Lane guy was pretty good. There is so much junk in Country music these days, that when a guy like him comes along, he'll grab ahold of the purest. Just plain ol two-steppin cowboy music. I hope he does well, and I'll buy his records when they come out.
