Just an FYI to everyone, please PM me if any of your friends were incorrectly banned through their IP. We received a denial of service attack from two locations, one from GrandeNetworks coming from Waco, and one from somewhere near the Woodlands, TX. The several IP addresses seemed to be running the same service attack, which was... amateur at best.
Thanks in advance,
Not Solan.

Basically, if you are reading this, you are not banned... but if any of your friends report that they are not able to access the site, they may have incorrectly had their IP address banned. If so, please PM me the incorrectly banned IP address and I will undo it.

A lonely lonely man (or woman) with very light Linux skills. And this is coming from someone who can not even run a backup properly.

DDOS? Really? Someone has too much time on their hands.
It's a VBull site, people. You're not going to take it down that way without doing it right. Besides, "Not Solan" is doing a very good job taking the site down by himself.

I remember when myself and a couple of friends built a webserver in high school for kicks, it ended up getting taken down by some Koreans. Think that triggered the Korean War, not sure though.

I can't exactly qualify it yet, as the person uses a dialup connection. Its a pretty smart plan, but they clearly have too much time on their hands.
Its not all that smart though, as we are on a dedicated Linux server in a datacenter somewhere in the US... with multiple entry points... so at worst, the Denial of Service attack will require us to move to a different port... whoop-di-do.

We were definitely running linux, debian to be specific. Who has the time to try and keep a Windows server secure(obviously not us, since we couldn't keep our linux box up more than a few weeks)?
I've revealed too much about my inner-geekiness. I think the Koreans were actually some sort of gaming clan, because I remember that we found a forum where we're pretty suring they were talking about taking us down. We were able to find all of this because they had the audacity to leave a note letting us know what they had done.
Korean *******s.

Unless you get a 4chan style DOS. Those guys mean business, took down the main scientology website for a few hours. Fortunately I don't think they have any sort of a vendetta against Baylor fans, so we should be safe.
Agh, keep forgetting to control geekiness. :crying:

Sort of, it's a group within 4chan called Anonymous. They've also been accused of cyberterroristic activities, though I don't think there was ever a real connection made.

That's exactly who I thought it was - I was going to say that in the post only I thought it would be vauge to say "the anonymous group" - but I should have known that you'd get it anyway

Haha, yeah. I could see this being somewhat difficult to explain to someone who had no idea what was going. It would basically be an Abbot and Costello routine.
They're Anonymous.
So no one knows who they are?
No, they all know each other.
So they aren't anonymous?
No, they are Anonymous!
