WOW. What a play by Delhomme.

I don't usually scream for games I have no stake in, but when Delhomme pump-faked so hard he nearly dropped the ball, then fired a bullet to Rosario, I yelled. What a play---just amazing.
Sorry Matt. :(

Amazing play. His initial pump, you gotta think he was looking to get rid of the ball, he saw something at the last second and had the discipline to bring the ball down. Threw a PERFECT strike to the back of the end zone... i jumped and screamed.
I've always like Delhomme, i kinda feel bad for him cause he should have won that damn superbowl vs. the pats, but after taking the lead the ***** kicker sends the kickoff out of bounds... probably one of the biggest boneheaded plays in the superbowl that for some reason NOBODY talks about... maybe it's cause they were too busy slobbering over Brady and Vinitieri(sp?who cares)

Jake is just flat out fun to watch. I will make it up to Matt by purchasing him a beverage of his choice this week.

I remember watching Delhomme back in his Saints days and thinking he was going to be good. If I dug around, I could find some posts from back then talking about how I thought he was going to be a star someday.....I think I called that one right. Kid is good, and yes, he plays with a ton of heart and is way fun to watch.

Yeah, not one of the best finishes...I was about 30 yards away from the catch. The crowd went from 9 million decibels to -100 decibels in .2 seconds. That was rough, but our defense played like crap all day. We're supposed to hang our hat on stopping the run and we got run all over. I'll quite my *****ing, because I could go on for a while.
Horrible.
The one bright spot on the day was Brady going down. As bad as we played yesterday, we've still got all our players intact and if we decide to play like we can we'll be alright.

How is Merriman gonna hold up on that knee? I admittedly didn't see much of the game yesterday so I didn't get to see how he was doing.

Merriman didn't look too limited...except by the play-calling. We tried dropping him into a zone and that just doesn't work. We only blitzed once or twice which is why Delhomme had ALL DAY to throw on us. For some reason Ted Cottrell doesn't call plays that fit the personnel until week 5 or 6. Exact same thing happened last year. No blitzing until week 5...bet you can guess when we started winning games.
Of course, Norm's play-calling sucks until about the same time of the season.
Merriman came on a local morning show last week and said that all four doctors told him it was his choice whether to play or not. None told him not to play. At this point, surgery would cost him 6 months and he doesn't want to miss a year.

Eh. I know of it and have used it in the past. Truth is, I just didn't really WANT to watch it.

I did holler at CJ Wilson before the game and give him the Sic 'em Bears. He gave it back.

I didn't like the play because I was wanting the Chargers to win.
But, not liking the result of the play, takes nothing away from it's greatness.

It was pretty spectacular. I had a direct view of it from the side.
BTW, should have been a 15 yard penalty for excessive celebration on all 70+ members of Carolina's team/coaches/staff on the field. Anything can happen on an XP. A block and return would have changed the outcome of the game. Not saying it would happen, but there's a better chance of blocking an XP from the 17 yard line than the 2.

Sports radio out here the last couple of weeks has been one mouth-breathing goober after another ranting about how Delhomme should die in a fire.
I had no time to listen today, but I bet the tone has changed.

i don't think they have to kick it since time was expired. And in all honesty, I see a victory formation kneel down in that situation. no way they would actually kick it

Bingo. Time was expired and they can't kick the extra point.
Kinda like in baseball---in the bottom of the 9th even if you hit a ball that would be a triple, you only get credit for a single and 1 run scoring. Now if you hit a home run it's a different story, but you get the drift.

Wrong. They cleared the field and kicked it...I had to sit through it. Don't care to lookup the rule, but if probably had to do with the margin being less than two points which can be made up with a two-point conversion or a return for 2 points by the defense.
Dante Rosario, 14 yd pass from Jake Delhomme (John Kasay kick is good), 0:00. Drive: 11 plays, 68 yards in 2:27
