There are several rookies that proved themselves valuable this week, even though some of them were in mainly cuz of starters being injured or suspended.

My top 5 rookies that will benefit their teams the most this season are:

Felix Jones - with Austin and Hurd injured, he will get many looks coming out of the backfield. Plus, I like his quickness and vision and is a perfect compliment to the strength and power of Barber. He also can make an impact on special teams returning kickoffs.

DeSean Jackson - will be the #2 receiver with Curtis out for season. Has incredible hands and can run the deep route. He also returns punts and can make people miss.

Matt Forte - deserves to be #1 back and will get many touches with Chicago having pretty weak receivers. He is very explosive and knows how to finish runs.

Eddie Royal - will prolly split receptions when Marshall gets back. Very impressive route runner with great hands.

Kevin Smith - gets through the line wuick and will be #1 back even with acquisition of Rudi Johnson. Will help team win more games by having a run game with great receivers like Williams and Johnson.

Those are sexy picks but I think this years rookie crop will be defined by the linemen.

Jake Long
Chris Long
Glenn Dorsey (def)
Derrick Harvey (def)
Ryan Clady
Chris Williams
etc....there are like 7-8 more in the first round alone but I am too lazy to look them up.

This was a fairly strong linemen draft imho. I think we will see some really good long term guys out of this draft. None of these guys may be in the running for ROY but they will definitely impact their respective teams and they are worth talking about.

Eddie Royal looked pretty good tonight. It was against the Raiders, but he looks like a gamer.

I think you gotta go with someone like Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco(sp?). They touch the ball on every play so they're going to be the ones who impact their team the most, be it good or bad.

I'm going to go against my nature and say DeSean Jackson. Kid is dynamic, and he'll be one of the go-to guys for McNabb this season. I see him having a huge year.

If Matt Ryan can continue not messing up, then I think he could impact his team the most in terms of wins and losses. He did a great job managing the game and not trying to do too much.

Matt Ryan single handily took apart the Lions Sunday. I'm going go out on a limb and say Matt Forte.

Matt Ryan single handily took apart the Lions Sunday.

lol, not quite. 9/16, 161 yards and 1 touchdown isn't exactly taking apart the Lions. He did enough to not *** it up. What he did do was hand it off to Michael Turner who went for 220 on the ground.

I think Forte will be the difference maker this year, with Felix Jones as a close second.

Yeah with Forte running well on the ground and with a healthy defense, Orton doesn't really have to do much. I mean look how far they went with Grossman.
